The “Bill” in question is 80+ New York Times photographer Bill Cunningham. For decades, this Schwinn-riding cultural anthropologist has been obsessively and inventively chronicling fashion trends and high society charity soirées for the Times Style section in his columns “On the Street” and “Evening Hours.” Documenting uptown fixtures (Wintour, Tom Wolfe, Brooke Astor, David Rockefeller—who all appear in the film out of their love for Bill), downtown eccentrics and everyone in between, Cunningham’s enormous body of work is more reliable than any catwalk as an expression of time, place and individual flair. In turn, Bill Cunningham New York is a delicate, funny and often poignant portrait of a dedicated artist whose only wealth is his own humanity and unassuming grace.

I really enjoy all Malia James’ output and various talents, plus she reminds me allot of my cuz Gail who I was so in love with as an adolescent. I tweeted about the Dirty Laundry site, and I was pretty happy with the tweet as it happened. I also made a comment on her David Lynch video she just produced. The piece is like a tribute plus it stands on it’s own as a piece of work!
Whenever I get around Malia’s work I feel really inspired and creative. I wanted to show how I responded – it’s part of what intrigues me about the internet besides it being data-land; the way that we can dance around in v/r.

FOTB 2010 Titles from Süperfad on Vimeo.
This year’s titles for FOTB were created by Nando Costa through the use of macro motion pictures and materials with magnetic properties. The choice of materials was driven by the desire to graphically represent the concepts of attraction and repulsion. The idea that graphic artists of all sorts attend events such as FOTB because they are inspired and therefore attracted to each other’s work, while at the same time often competing in the same fields as peers, which represents the repulsion factor.
thx to @jesscato for the tip
