Stripmall Architecture / Feathersongs by kilk

Stripmall Architecture formed when Ryan and Rebecca Coseboom’s previous band, Halou, dissolved. The expanded band includes Tim Hingston (guitar), Patrick Harte (drums), Erica ‘Unwoman’ Mulkey (cello), and other supporting musicians for their live shows and recording sessions. The band used the service Kickstarter to generate funds to produce their new LP, Feathersongs For Factory Girls. Part one was released in April 2010, and part two followed a year later in 2011. Both parts were released together on a limited numbered edition double 10″ LP on white vinyl in early 2011.

Radium Girls are actually the girls that painted the watches that glow in the dark for a company way back in the old days and they used Radium paint and didn’t know the danger. They would lick the brush to moisten it and it messed them up pretty badly. The company didn’t care and they told the female workers that the paint they used was harmless even though it gave them radiation poison, deformed some and gave them terrible illnesses and death.

From the ‘Halou – Wiser’ 10th anniversary performance in San Francisco. May 2011

Agness Twin:
Agness Twin was created by Lady E in 2004. It began as a collaboration of different artists with her as the main focus of the project. The styles of the songs range from down tempo, shoe gaze, Americana and rock with an ambient tone creating eclectic sounds.

In 1998 Lady E began her music career in San Francisco and formed the band ‘Agness’ who was played frequently on the college radio station KUSF. The name Agness stems from a true story of her mothers twin ‘Agness’ who died from the hives at only two months of age. She lives on through the music. In 2003 Lady E moved to LA and went solo thus creating ‘Agness Twin’. She recorded, produced and engineered a cover of the Duran Duran song ‘Girls on Film’ in 2005. In 2007 she worked with David J (of Bauhaus, Love and Rockets),and Vinsantos, on Vinsanto’s album A Light Awake Inside. She is featured on the songs ‘After All’, and ’16 Seconds’. She has worked with cellist Joyce Rooks who is featured on all of the songs on the album Waiting for my Ghost. Lady E is also in a band with Drew Pluta called ‘The Golwering Eyes’ who have played all around LA and San Francisco.

Agness Twins live shows are a range of songs with ambient beats, the live drums of Rickki Furcoat and screaming guitars to intimate acoustic guitar and vocals. The album Waiting for my Ghost is Agness Twin’s first debut album. The songs are dark ballads of lost love, triumph over tragedy, and alter egos. It takes you to a far away place and brings you right back. Ambient, dreamy, and catchy.

” Agness Twin is the brain-child of one Lady E who wrote all the material found on “Wating for my Ghost” as well as handling the singing/guitar playing/synth administrating duties. What the Lady presents is a collection of noir-tinged songs based in the dirgey, slightly droney-rock whose heritage can be traced backed to greats like PJ Harvey and Tanya Donelly. The rock element is by turns driving and hypnotic. To this she adds the cello work of Joyce Rooks and the occasional piano bits curtesy of the great Vinsantos which gives the album a wonderfully sepiachord edge. The end result are songs that swing smoothly from driving rock to off-kilter numbers that are like the evil flip-side of pop. Lady E is sometimes brash, sometimes coaxing, but always remarkably seductive. I would happily spend more time in Lady E’s world. This one’s a keeper.” — SepiaChord

The styles of the songs range from, down tempo, shoe gaze, Americana and rock with ambient tones creating eclectic sounds. In 1998 Lady E began her music career in San Francisco and formed the band “Agness” who was played frequently on the college radio stations KUSF & KFJC. The music was experimental (Romeo & Juliet meets Pink Floyd). The name Agness stems from a true story of Lady E’s mother’s twin “Agness” who died from the hives at only two months of age. She lives on through the music. In 2003 Lady E moved to LA and went solo thus creating “Agness Twin”. She recorded, produced and engineered a cover of the Duran Duran song “Girls on Film” in 2005. {“The rare cover that’s both a significant departure from the original and stellar in its own right”}..said by a subscriber on The sixtyone. She has worked with cellist Joyce Rooks who is featured on most of the songs on the album “Waiting for my Ghost”, Agness Twin’s Debut album. Agness Twin’s live shows are a combination of Lady E’s custom made double neck electric 12 string & 6 string guitar creating pretty & ambient sounds to screaming distortions accompanied with Rikki Furcoat’s loose but heavy drums. Rikki Played drumms in Capsule Queen, Agness, Grass Belly and many other SF bands in the late 90s. Agness Twin’s newest edition is the wonderful Tom Mackerness. Classically trained in String bass/ cello/ violin/ & bass guitar. He played with the epic noise/punk band Popesmashers, creates electro-acoustic soundtrack music with Don’t Die, and Johnny Clashes with Armed Forces Radio; with just enough time to be in the Magic No. 9.
